Guilt is a Good Sign

1 Corinthians 7:10 "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death."

Did you know if you feel "Guilty" about something that happens that is showing you there is hope? "How" you ask? Guilt seems so negative. How can anything positive come from it? First you have to understand that we are talking about "guilt" and not "shame".

If you have ever felt guilty about anything, you will know that it is a feeling that you did the wrong thing. For this post we are speaking only of something you actually did. We are not speaking of survivor's guilt, or guilt that people try to impose on you.

That feeling shows that you violated a rule, whether it be moral or ethical. It shows that the standard you set up has been lowered, breached or violated and makes you want to fix or repair what you have done. It makes you want to change.

The above scripture, 2Corinthians 7:10 means that the Holy spirit uses guilt/grief and accomplishes a change of mind that brings deliverance. The Holy spirit within you is letting you know you did the wrong thing. After you fix the situation or make restitution, guilt should be gone. That does not mean you will not think about it again, it means it will not torment you, because you tried to handled it.

So when you feel "guilt" over the affair you had or the night of wild sexual activity know that the guilty feeling is there to bring you into a place of change and not to make you miserable the rest of your life. What do you think?
